its got cold again but also snowed so happy days. Today was my last day snowboarding though mum, dad and nuki arrive tomorrow and i leave banff in 6 days. Its been a great 8 months here so its mildly devastating to be leaving. Sunday ill be heading off on the train for vancouver then go to vancouver island and alaska before arriving home in a month.
yesterday was an adrenalin filled day we went boarding at lake louise where they set up a massive air cushion below a row of jumps so we could practice spins and flips without the consequences of landing on hard snow. i tried two backflips and failed epicly by landing on my head, anything else i tried was a spectacular failure aswell but thats why i did it over an airbag. after boarding we went bear hunting (with cameras) after hearing they can be found eating grain off the train tracks. we found ourselves a grizzly bear its pretty amazing to see one in the wild up fairly close and makes you quite nervous when hes looking at you

in the last few days its rained twice which is quite significant since i havent seen rain in about 6 months. being wet makes me sad though snowboarding when its damp like this sucks cos its slow and hard to control a board well. i bought a new snowboard a stepchild simon chamberlain promodel so i feel pretty sick.
mum dad and nuki arrive here in a week to see life in banff then i head off with them. ill be back home june 2 for june/july then i think ill go away for a little bit more. im pumped as for splendour and some epic camping

well unfortunately the ski skate race never took place, what an epic it was set to be. old jbell captain fuckface had to make a trip to canmore, a nearby town, to buy plasterboard so i can patch the holes he knocked in our walls a drunken night one was via throwing our ps2 at the wall.
work is finished now so im a fulltime snowboarder during the week and the other days i roam town aimlessly. theres a heatwave at the moment it got to 22 today everyones ones out enjoying the sun ive been swimming in the river the last 2 days that however its cold theres still bits of ice floating down it. yesterday was 4 20 day in canada its where people smoke weed on the 20th of the 4th at 4.20pm i have no idea how such a day started but people love it.
i bought a new snowboard last friday i was pretty pumped and tommorrow will be another day boarding at sunshine village its just a matter now of which board to ride.

i only have 3 more days left working before mt norquay closes for the season, its glorious. sunshine village is still open for a good month so there will be some solid snowboarding sessions to come. tomorrows day at sunshine will feature the inaugural cross country ski skate style race between ash and jbell. ash is tipped to win even with his 4hours skiing experience and jbells punishment for a loss? having chilli sauce on all his meals for 2weeks, i cant wait.

HELLO!
it's 2130 saturday night and really hot, 6degrees - yes hot. Ash, Laura and I went to dinner at Earls I had Albetas finest ribeye which is poor in comparison to australian beef but dont tell a canadian that. We then skated around town and got taken to the downstairs of a shop to view a glorious array of specialty boards - i think i want to buy one. Banff is quite flat and compact so skateboard is a good mode of transport although the other week the ranger`told us off saying it was illegal to skate on a public road and a $409 fine.
On thursday we had a bit of a staff party starting off with a 4man team slalom (weaving through posts on skis or board) race with a 80s dress code. I was skiing and managed to beat one of the ski intructors, i'll never let her live that down. After some beer and hotdogs the bus took us back to town and shortly after banff was swarmed by trolleyed norquay employees dressed in tight fluoro. Friday was a sore morning for those who had to work but its an undeniable right as a lifty.

Well here i am seeing how i go with blogs the whole time ive been away theres been 1 email cos ive been enjoying my time away from computers and not having to write anything. Now i know im a dick cos people from time to time go "i wonder how saxons going" and id say some people dont even think that anymore since its pushing 7months since i spoke to some. So ive figured maybe ill manage to keep people updated through a blog where i only have to write little bits at a time and you can read it whenever you want, and yes sometimes ill grant you it will be boring like tonight i cooked chicken mushroom tomato pesto spagetti for dinner....who cares? i do, it was yum and its on my mind.
i just heard a train horn, thats an odd part of living in a national park here theres things like trains, horses and dogs that arent allowed in an australian national park. im used to the trains now and dont really hear them although theyre not common and its just background noise they are loud at night time because they need to scare deer and elk off the tracks. Some nights i swear the train drivers have competitions to see who can blow their air horn the most as they pass town.
snowboardings coming along well theres hardly a place i cant get down even little drop ins, huge bumps and near cliff faces ill hit but of course i have a infinite amount of room for improvement. ash and i went to kicking horse yesterday with patty, josh and jonny friends from work its one of the most challenging mountains your ever likely to go to so its awesome. we hiked up a ridge id done before and dropped in the back of the mountain out of the ski area to get fresh powder. i havent died yet life is good.
i think thatll more than do for the start of my blog. Furture blogs may get confusing as i mess up any sensible timeline by recounting past events of the last 6months and try and describe my life in banff; i hope to keep it mildly interesting.
and thankyou to everyone that sent me a happy birthday a few days back
